Each portrait is painted in a loose, expressive style and finished on unpainted paper to keep the focus on your dog’s personality and character.

REFERENCE PHOTO GUIDELINES

Your portrait will be painted from one reference photo submitted after purchase. Because I’ve never met your dog, a strong reference photo is essential for the best result.

For best results, please choose a photo that is:

• Clear and well lit
• Taken outdoors in natural light
• Shot at eye level with your dog (crouching down works well)
• Showing your dog with a relaxed or closed mouth

Photos where a dog is panting or has its mouth open or tongue fully out can slightly distort facial features and may not translate as well into a painted portrait.

ACCESSORIES & DETAILS

• Simple accessories such as collars or tags are included at no additional cost
• More complex elements — including clothing, costumes, harnesses, headpieces, detailed backgrounds, or additional subjects — may require an additional quote

Please note: any accessories visible in the reference photo will appear in the portrait unless a written request is made after purchase and before painting begins.

PROCESS & TIMING

After purchase, you’ll receive an email with instructions for submitting your reference photo.

All portraits are made to order. Due to the limited Valentine’s timeline, if a suitable reference photo cannot be provided in time, the order may be refunded rather than delayed.

GIFTING NOTE

If you’re purchasing this portrait as a gift and don’t yet have a usable photo of the dog, I’m happy to provide a gift certificate.

The certificate includes a loose sketch of the dog’s face (any photo will do), serving as a preview of the portrait to come, and allows the recipient to choose their preferred reference photo.

Gift certificates are valid for one year.
